Dating Chat Rooms

Has anyone tried online dating chat rooms to find a partner in life? And if so, do you prefer online dating or meeting them in public?
Answer:
Well, me and my boyfriend met on the net last year, through an online dating chat channel.
I had a profile for up for a few months, but I wasn't really looking to actually meet people that were writing to me from the online dating service. It was more of a fun little experiment, maybe a little ego boost that I needed at the time. I guess, well you know, putting pics with you up on a profile having fun and looking sexy, getting compliments and tons of responses, whatever - it felt good at the time!
So, one day I decided to close the account since I've basically had enough of the "I dont know you, but
will you marry me" type of responses.
And before doing so I went to the chat room real quick to check it out. This was something I had never
done before, I just wanted to see what was going on in there.
Once I got into the dating sites chat area, there was this guy who was saying that dating sites suck,
that people pretend all the time to be something or someone they are not, and that everyone chickens
when you actually start sounding serious, yadda yadda yadda...
So I got his email and I instant messengered him through the dating site.
This year in April we celebrated 3 years of being together! Wow!
P.S.: He lives in another country and i followed him to his country.
